The beauty of making documentaries is that every film is a different journey. In this case, the journey was long, intense, and all-encompassing.
I’ve known Alessandro for many years. He’s a director and photographer with a very special eye. He’s also an extremely meticulous person, and someone you can spend hours with discussing any topic. About Giovanna, I can only say that without her I probably wouldn’t have done this job.
The three of us spent about a year in the editing room, creating, piece by piece, a visual and audio narrative that unfolds exactly over 12 months; and the following year completing post-production.
What emerged is a powerfully evocative fresco on the cyclical nature of time, the rituality of human experience, the relationship between man and nature, and perhaps much more.
It was a three-person effort, matured over four seasons, crafted with care, sensitivity and patience, to try to tell a story that has no plot or protagonist, but that concerns and involves all of us.
